“In the class war i sided with the underprivileged and oppressed, with
the excluded and hunted, with the guilty and the damned”
In August 2012 a robbery takes place at Alpha Bank on the island of
Paros, during which a taxi driver was killed when he attempted to stop
the robbers from escaping. A few days later, after an anonymous
phone-call to the anti-terrorist force, anarchist-communist Tasos
Theofilou was arrested.
During that period, the cooperation of police and media had manifested
in a delirious way, in a game of constructing impressions about the
existence of a revolutionary fund and a connection of anarchists and
penal criminals, anticipating his guilt.
The comrade found himself against charges of armed robbery, homicide as
well as integration in the r.o.Conspiracy Cells of Fire, with only
“incriminating” evidence the existence of a dna sample on a hat that was
found at the spot of the robbery.
Despite the collapse of the enlarged indictment, which the comrade
denied in its entirety, he was sentenced to 25 years for the armed
robbery while he was acquitted of the charges of homicide and
integration in the C.C.F.
It seems that the state was not satisfied with the exterminating
sentence imposed. Prosecutor Drakos appealed to the law, cancelling thus
the first instance decision resulting in a new trial of the case from
scratch. The anti-appeal serves its fixed political objective of
authority to discredit the anarchist struggle. In an attempt to raise
society’s conservative reflexes, it presents anarchists as ruthless
murderers of innocent citizens, attempting at the same time to
de-politicize the actions of armed organizations, this is why for many
years now it insists on the theories of alignment of anarchists-penal
criminals, the existence of a revolutionary fund etc.
In periods of crisis the state fortifies itself through its mechanisms
(justice-oppressive forces), oppressing the internal enemy, with the
enforcement of exterminating sentences and this can be seen by the
convicting decisions in a series of trials concerning anarchist
We think that the political trials are not only a field that concerning
those incarcerated and the state, where the only stake in these is the
size of the sentences, but also as a field of intensifying and promotion
of the struggle.
