In the trial of 1st March 2016 Nicola Gai and Sergio Maria Stefani were acquitted of the charge of attempted instigation to commit crime (art 414 of the penal code). The case originated from a letter written by Nicola in 2014 and intercepted by the prison authority, where Nicola expressed praise for the attack on a prison governor’s car in Athens. Nicola had opted for abbreviated procedure trial in this case.
