Greece , Athens : DOWN WITH THE PETROU RALLI HELLHOLE AND ANY MIGRANTS` DETENTION CENTRE

On Friday 11 January 2019 at 5 am, immigrants-prisoners at Petrou Ralli immigrants` administrative detention centre escape by using bed sheets and blankets, get out into the courtyard and jump over the fencing of the prison. After chase, five manage to escape, while one of them is beaten and arrested. This escape is a response to their detention, which is characterized by miserable conditions of confinement and the constant suppression of any form of claim.
Although the spotlight has fallen on to the escape from the hell of Petrou Ralli, presenting the runaways as criminals- dangerous for public security, the acts of resistance and claim inside the walls are quite a few..

All these struggles have remained in obscurity and have been answered by the state with more repression and violence. To our closest memory, we have the case of the 8 Algerians who demanded to see the commander of Petrou Ralli and, in response the cops broke their bones, arrested them and even filed a case against them. As a result, they spent a year in custody. Then, the court justified the cops, eventually sentencing the immigrants to suspended three-year imprisonment.
On the other hand, in the summer, men and women prisoners put fire in their cells, once again crying out the tragic conditions of their detention and demanding their release. In November, immigrants went on a hunger strike, which was violently stifled by the cops again.
Over all this time we have stood by the prisoners and have broken the imposed invisibility  by supporting their struggles, publicizing the conditions and the status of their detention   and bringing their voices up to the surface. The effort to win their freedom, even temporarily, through an escape, breaks a link of the immigration policy chain. The immigrant policy, which, no matter what the promoting mask it wears is, leads to devaluation and the annihilation of human existence.
POWER TO THE 5 ESCAPEES.
SOLIDARITY TO THE IMPRISONED MEN AND WOMEN IMMIGRANTS. TILL THE DESTRUCTION OF THE DETENTION CENTRES.
FOR A WORLD WITHOUT STATES AND BORDERS.
