August 18, 2019by actforfreedom
On the night of Tuesday to Wednesday, August 14, a Tunisian and an Algerian, both 21 years old, escaped from the Plaisir administrative detention centre (CRA) located next to the police station. A third was arrested on the roof of the building. The alert was given around 2:30 in the morning.
The occupants of room number 13 escaped by opening the bars of the window with the aid of a sheet. Police patrols chased after the escapees. But their search for the last two has been futile.
“This is at least the seventh escape since the beginning of the year, reports a police officer. This is a trend that began at least two years ago in this detention centre. This situation has given rise to several meetings with the unions and PAF authorities.
Recently, barbed wire with razor blades was installed on the walls to discourage undocumented migrants from leaving the premises without permission. Obviously, that is not enough.
